May is Almost Over???

My Sassy Ballerina

This was the presentation for the parents.  Jordan did not do much.  Too shy.

Mother's Day 2014

Oh how I love Mother's Day!  This is the time of year when I reflect on being a mother.  Motherhood is not always easy, and I often wonder where the manual is for raising children.  I lose my cool way too often and sometimes want to run away (just for a little while).  But, I would never stay gone long.  When my kids aren't with me, I am lost.  I remember all those months I prayed for these two.  I tell them all the time how special they are and how long I waited for them.

Winston has the cutest personality.  He makes me laugh almost every day.  He has the biggest heart and always wants to snuggle.  I hope that he never outgrows that.

Jordan has been rather challenging lately.  She is very stubborn and a little on the bossy side.  She too has a big heart.  She does not cuddle with me like her brother, but I can't be far from her.  She watches my every move.  She has overcome a lot this past year, and her bravery amazes me.  She is ready for her next surgery in July.

We enjoyed our afternoon fishing at the tank.

A Long Day

Yesterday my mom and I took Jordan to Houston for a plastic surgeon and dermatologist appointment.  We saw the plastic surgeon first, and Jordan was extremely shy.  I know she was really nervous.  Jordan wanted me to tell him that she didn't like her lip or the scar on her forehead.  He showed me how her lip was lining up since the last surgery and said the redness above her lip is the hemangioma.  She did not have her lip lasered  last time since he touched it up.  He also said the scar on her head would most likely not get any better.  He said that since Jordan wants it fixed, that is what he will do. Jordan's forehead scar turned white and that is not a good sign of improvement.  He said he could make it look better, but she will always have a scar there.  I mentioned that the ENT found a hole in her right ear, and if it needed to be patched, I wanted to know if that could be done at the same time.  He said maybe, but we would have to see an ENT there.  So, he got us an appointment that  day.

Our next appointment was the dermatologist.  We all agreed that the last laser treatment did an amazing job.  We discussed doing it again.  She said that they could use a different laser to help with the scar tissue on her lip.  Dr. Wright will use two lasers this time.  This was an easy visit.

Next we were told to walk two blocks to our ENT appointment.  When we got there, it was two thirty.  I had to fill out a mountain of paper work in a extremely loud waiting room.  I was getting tired and grouchy, and so was Jordan.  We were finally called back an hour later and seen by a nurse practitioner.  She did not see any holes in Jordan's eardrums but wanted to be sure.  Jordan was given detailed  hearing test.  She has some negative pressure in her ears. She is borderline normal as to what she can hear.  After the hearing test, we saw a doctor.  He did not see any holes in her eardrums and said we will not need to patch anything.  We will need to continue follow ups with her regular ENT to watch the negative pressure.  That was a relief.

We then had to walk back to the car.  When we pulled out of the parking lot it was five o'clock.  Traffic was backed up but moving.  It took us two hours to get to Columbus which is not that bad.  We ate, and Jordan and I got home at 8:00.

Surgery is tentatively scheduled for July 15 depending on both doctor's schedules.  What a day!

Jordan

I finally got to go on an ACTS retreat.  It was a wonderful experience, and I received a lot of healing.  When I came back from the retreat, I was on an incredible high.

Jordan had an ENT appointment that Monday.  My mom took her, and I expected everything to be fine. Well, her tubes did fall out like expected, but she has a hole in her right ear where the tube was.  We are going to watch it for two months to see if it will heal on its own.  If it does not heal, they will have to put a patch over it.  It is not a big procedure but one more thing that she would have to do.

Jordan has been very sassy to me lately, and I am not sure why.  She wanted to know all about the "red stuff" on her face this week and all of her surgeries.  I told her very little, but she knows that I know more. She wants me to tell her everything.  I am lost at what to say to her.  She hates her lip and the scar on her forehead.  She wants to know when that will go away. Someone at school thought that her eye was bleeding, and Jordan was hurt and didn't know what to say.

I am trying so hard to stay up. When I left the retreat, I knew I could face the world.

Twin Day at School

It was twin day at school.

Being twins at home.  Don't let the hugs fool you though.
Most of the time they do not agree with each other.

A Birthday Party

Jordan and Winston were invited to one of their classmate's birthday parties.  This was their first party they got to go to, other than family.  It was one of those moments that brought tears to my eyes because I waited a long time to do this with my own children.  All three of us had a wonderful time.
